Your journey
- Which rooms and floors do I want to reach?
- Is the flight straight throughout, or are there turns, landings or outside steps?
- Will I stay seated for the whole journey or need to transfer between chairs?
- Where will the chair park and charge? Does the rail affect a doorway?
Your comfort
- Can I sit down and stand up comfortably at the proposed landings?
- Can I use the belt, control, seat swivel and folding parts?
- Would a powered swivel or footrest solve a practical difficulty for me?
- Where will a walking aid wait at either end?
- Can I try the exact features on the quotation?
Your quote
- What model, rail route and options are included?
- Is the figure a fully installed total including tax, or are items separate?
- Who handles any site preparation and necessary permissions?
- What are the deposit, ordering and cancellation terms?
- How do new, reconditioned and any rental totals compare over my expected use?
Your installation & support
- Who installs and who services the lift at my actual address?
- What is covered by parts, labor, travel and battery warranties?
- What are the service hours and call-out charges?
- Will I get a demonstration, written instructions and maintenance schedule?
- What will removal cost, and what would be left behind?
If someone is helping you buy
Ask them to note answers or compare quotations with you. Your own comfort and priorities should lead. If you need assistance getting on or off the chair, discuss that with a qualified assessor and, where appropriate, an occupational therapist.
Before a Providence-area assessment
For a Providence assessment, explain whether the route is inside your own home, on a shared staircase or at an outdoor entrance. Ownership permissions, the route between landings and the exact service address all need to be clear before ordering. Nearby Massachusetts service must be confirmed separately; a Rhode Island guide is not cross-state coverage assurance.
Compare the roles behind the brand names and read the cost guide.
